The First Church Story
The First Church Vision

Ministry: our promise In the First Church, everyone is a minister to some degree. Yet, there are people especially dedicated to serve the Lord through ministering in the Word. These people promise to lead this congregation in the ways of the Lord.

Adults:
our potential. Becoming men and women of God is a desire of each adult. Finding the potential of what God would have a person to be is on ongoing quest at the First Church.

On Sunday mornings at 10 am, classes are available to me the needs and aspirations of for Single adults, Young Marrieds, those interested in Home and Family, and Senior Adults. Not only is their learning and encouraging, each class has a fellowship group which permits more meaningful involvement.

When they believed…they were baptized, both men and women (Acts 8:12).

Children:
our priority. Jesus placed great emphasis on a child. Each child is special to the First Church family. A nursery for infants is provided at each worship service. For two hours on Sunday morning (10 am to 12 noon), children from toddlers to pre-teens are in a fun, yet Christ-filled classes. On Wednesday nights, children participate in their own worship service and boys’ and girls’ clubs.

Under the direction of Glenn Jones and David and Janice Evans, the teachers and children’s workers are trained and highly motivated to point their students toward Jesus Christ and the truth found in His Word. Shelli Britan oversees First Impressions, a quality learning center for preschool and afterschool children.

Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:4)

Youth: our possibility. Within the heart of each teen is the desire to be and to do something great for God. Our First Church youth team is dedicated to finding that desire and growing it.

The B1 youth group hosts special services on alternative Friday nights. On Sunday mornings at 10 am, the youth class meets to discuss issues relevant to teens and young adults. Missions trips, outreach opportunities, and quarterly dynamic weekends focus the youth on becoming what Christ would have them be.

That they may be one….(John 17:22)

Worship: our passion Loving God in praise and music is the heart of the First Church. Nothing so unifies a church as worshipping God together. Under the direction of Tessie Gurley, there are many facets of praise in the First Church.

The Children’s Choir under the direction of Kristi Roark sings each Wednesday night and on various special services. The Sanctuary Choir under the direction of Redonia Porter sings each Sunday morning.

The Youth Choir under the direction of Ben Spell sings each Sunday evening.

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. (Matthew 22:37-38).

Outreach: our purpose Jesus commands each person to win souls. Our purpose in life is to reach the lost, bind up the wounded, and to make certain that the poor hear the Gospel. Outreach takes many forms at the First Church. Home Bible Studies, services at various missions and prisons, can involve many people. Yet, each person is also trained to personally express his or her faith and to reach someone for the Lord.

Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled (Luke 14:23).

Drama: our presentation. First Church is committed to presenting the Gospel in as many different ways as possible. One of these means is through drama. Fire Still Falls has seen hundreds receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost. It has been performed by numerous churches across the nation. Ten Days of His Passion is the church’s Resurrection drama. Chad Harper largely coordinates the dramatic efforts of the First Church.
